How to Delete Standard Findings

Remove findings from your standard library that are no longer needed.

Deleting a Standard Finding

Step 1: Access Findings Library

Navigate to:

  • Settings → Standard Findings
  • Or Admin → Findings Library

Step 2: Find Finding to Delete

Browse or search for the finding you want to delete.

Step 3: Delete the Finding

Look for "Delete" or trash icon button next to the finding:

  • Hover over the finding
  • Click the delete/trash icon
  • Or select finding and click "Delete" button

Step 4: Confirm Deletion

Confirm you want to delete the finding. Some systems may ask:

  • Click "Yes, Delete" or "Confirm"
  • Note: This only removes the template, not findings already added to inspections

Step 5: Verify Deletion

The finding should no longer appear in your standard findings library.

Important Notes

Deleting vs. Archiving:

  • Deleting removes the template permanently
  • Consider archiving if you might need it later
  • Check if your system has an "Archive" option instead of delete

Impact on Existing Inspections:

  • Deleted templates don't affect existing uses
  • Previously added findings remain in completed inspections
  • Only future uses are prevented

When to Delete Findings

Delete standard findings when:

  • They're no longer relevant to your business
  • Terminology has been updated
  • Finding has been consolidated with another
  • You've switched inspection methodologies
  • Finding contains outdated information

Safer Alternatives

Instead of deleting, consider:

  1. Archiving: Keep template but hide from daily use
  2. Renaming: Update to reflect current standards
  3. Editing: Update template language instead of creating new one

Recovering Deleted Findings

If you accidentally delete a finding:

  • Check if your system has a "Recently Deleted" or recycle bin
  • Contact support if permanent recovery is needed
  • Recreate the finding if necessary
