Findings are the observations you record under each subsection during an inspection. You can type them from scratch, dictate them, or pull from the Standard Library of pre-written findings.
Opening the New Finding Modal
Click the + button inside any subsection to open the New Finding modal. The modal header shows the subsection it belongs to — for example, "Add a note under Foundations".
Filling In the Finding
Room / Area
Use the Room / Area dropdown to select where the finding applies. The list includes all rooms set up for this inspection (e.g., Foundation, Exterior, Kitchen, Attic).
If the room you need isn't listed, click "Click here to create a room" to add it. See Managing Rooms for details.
Type
Toggle between two finding types:
- General Comment — saved as a general observation
- Deficiency — flagged as a deficiency in the report
Standard Library
The Standard Library is a searchable collection of pre-written findings for the current trade. The number of available entries is shown (e.g., "43 available").
- Use the search field to filter entries by keyword
- Click any entry to populate the Finding Text field
- Entries tagged Deficiency are highlighted in red
You can use a library entry as-is or edit the text after selecting it.
Finding Text
Type or dictate your finding in the Finding Text field. This is the text that will appear in the inspection report. You can write it entirely from scratch or start from a Standard Library entry and customize it.
Saving the Finding
Click Save Finding to add the finding to the subsection, or Cancel to discard it without saving.
