How to Add Photos to Your Inspection

Adding photos to your inspection findings provides visual documentation and enhances your reports.

Method 1: Add Photo During Finding Entry

Step 1: Create or Edit a Finding

While adding or editing a finding in your inspection, look for a "Add Photo" or "Attach Image" option.

Step 2: Upload Photo

Click the photo button to:

  • Upload from your device
  • Take a new photo (on mobile devices)
  • Browse previously uploaded photos

Step 3: Confirm Photo

Review and confirm the photo is attached to the correct finding. Add multiple photos to one finding if needed.

Step 4: Save Finding

Save your finding with the attached photo.

Method 2: Add Photos to Inspection

Step 1: Open Your Inspection

Navigate to the inspection you're working on.

Step 2: Access Photos Section

Look for a "Photos" tab or "Photo Gallery" section.

Step 3: Add New Photo

Click "Add Photo" or "Upload Image":

  • Select file from your device
  • Or drag and drop a photo
  • Or take a new photo (mobile)

Step 4: Organize Photos

Assign the photo to a finding:

  • Select the related finding
  • Add a caption or description
  • Set the photo's position

Step 5: Save

Save your photos to the inspection.

Photo Best Practices

  1. Quality: Use high-quality, clear images
  2. Lighting: Ensure adequate lighting for clarity
  3. Context: Include wide shots before close-ups
  4. Labels: Mark or describe problem areas
  5. Location: Clearly show where the issue is
  6. Multiple angles: Capture different perspectives
  7. Examples: Show good and bad examples side-by-side

Supported Formats

  • JPEG (.jpg, .jpeg)
  • PNG (.png)
  • HEIC (.heic - iPhone)
  • GIF (.gif)

File Size Limits

  • Maximum file size: typically 10 MB per photo
  • Recommended: Compress large files before uploading
  • Consider mobile data usage when uploading on cellular

Tips

  • Take photos during your inspection, not after
  • Use natural lighting when possible
  • Avoid overexposed or underexposed images
  • Include identifying labels in close-ups
  • Organize photos logically in your inspection

Managing Photos

You can:

  • Delete unwanted photos
  • Re-assign photos to different findings
  • Reorder photos in your inspection
  • Add descriptions to photos
  • Download photo copies

Including Photos in Reports

When generating your Word document:

  • Select which photos to include
  • Photos will appear with related findings
  • Adjust photo size and layout in report settings
  • Maintain quality in final document
